The Afro-Kai Biofuel Blending Plant in Mutukula is a key milestone in Uganda's journey toward sustainable energy. As one of the companies licensed by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (MEMD) to conduct ethanol blending, Afro-Kai plays a vital role in supporting the introduction of cleaner fuels into Uganda's petroleum supply chain.

Strategically located at the Mutukula border, the facility serves as a critical entry-point operation for blending ethanol with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) entering the country. The plant currently features 210,000 litres of ethanol storage capacity, with provisions for future expansion to accommodate increased blending volumes as national demand grows.

Engineered for safety, reliability, and environmental compliance, the plant's infrastructure includes state-of-the-art ethanol storage tanks, transfer pipelines, a truck loading gantry, and integrated systems for quality control and fire protection.

Through ethanol blending, Afro-Kai is contributing to reduced carbon emissions, enhanced energy security, and value addition to Uganda's agricultural sector. The Mutukula plant stands as a testament to Afro-Kai's commitment to innovation, sustainability, and national energy independence.
